There are tons of fun charity fundraisers and event volunteer opportunities coming up soon.
July 16 to August 17: Highland Park United Methodist Church is collecting school supplies. Details at http://www.hpumc.org/special-collections/.
July 19: Poolside Fashion Show 9-11 pm at the ilume pool. Tickets are $35 and up. There’s an open bar, hors d’oeuvres, and music from DJ Press Play, benefiting the Dallas Red Foundation. Attend or volunteer.
July 20: Be An Angel event benefiting the Legacy Counseling Center and Founders Cottage. Live entertainment, live and silent auctions, gourmet food, and cocktails. 5:30-9:00 p.m. at 7 for Parties. Tickets are $75. Swanky.
July 22: Helping Hands is having a happy hour at Top Golf in Dallas at 5:30 p.m. benefiting The Family Place. Golf and light appetizers are included for a $10 donation. This sounds like my kind of event. There’s something to do, and it’s pretty casual.
August 2: Leo Party & Miss Leo Contest benefiting AIDS Interfaith Network, 8:00 p.m. at Hidden Door, 5025 Bowser, Dallas. Disco Divas and Oldies! I don’t really know what the Leo thing is, but it sounds fun.
Also August 2: Volunteers are needed for renovation and improvement projects at Weiss Elementary starting at 9:00 a.m.
ALSO August 2: North Texas Food Bank needs volunteers (18 and older) to conduct client services in Sand Branch. Two shifts will be available: 8:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. and 2:00-5:30 p.m. Sand Branch is located off of 175, just west of Seagoville. Volunteers may be required to attend a training in advance or earlier the same day. They say, “Volunteers will conduct surveys to help NTFB document conditions and gather information about the community. We hope this will help them organize improvement projects and gain access to other much-needed resources.” They apparently don’t have mail, trash, water, and sewer! In Dallas County! In 2014!
Email Richard Amory at email@example.com to sign up or for more information.
August 23 at noon, there’s a $20 Zumba class at Z + Studio. 100% of proceeds go to Parkinson Voice Project. Call 469-375-6500 to sign up. My friend just tried this for the first time and said it’s fun and a great workout.
I post these and many other events on my Twitter, so follow me and stay informed!
